Sporting Kansas City and Compass Minerals announced today an expanded First Team partnership highlighted by Compass Minerals becoming the official jersey partner of Sporting Kansas City.
After debuting as the club’s first sleeve partner in 2020, Compass Minerals’ logo will now be prominently displayed on the front of all Sporting Kansas City jerseys from the start of the 2022 Major League Soccer season - including the team’s new secondary kit set to launch soon – until the end of 2028. Compass Minerals unveiled a new company logo in concert with the jersey sponsorship.
"At Compass Minerals, our Core Purpose is to help keep people safe, feed the world, and enrich lives. Beyond the products we produce and manufacture, being engaged in our community is an important part of fulfilling that purpose,” said Kevin S. Crutchfield, Compass Minerals’ President and CEO. “We are excited for our company and our employees to grow our partnership with a first-class organization like Sporting KC and together advance our shared goal to make a positive impact in the KC region.”
“The unprecedented growth of our partnership together is truly an incredible success story for both of our businesses and both of our brands,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid. “As the presenting partner on the front of our jerseys for the next seven seasons, Compass Minerals will now, quite literally, be part of the fabric of our club. We’re tremendously proud to shine an even bigger and brighter spotlight on our standout partnership in such a highly-visible and integrated fashion.”
Compass Minerals, also the official plant nutrition and salt provider of Sporting Kansas City and the Sporting Club Network, is headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., with production and packaging facilities in four countries. The company's first mine began operation in 1844 and today, Compass Minerals is the leading salt producer in North America and the United Kingdom, the leading producer of sulfate of potash in the Western Hemisphere, as well as the United States' only producer of magnesium chloride. Products from Compass Minerals serve a variety of applications in industrial, agricultural, commercial and consumer markets, and these products afford Sporting KC the luxury of playing on the most pristine pitch in Major League Soccer.
The multi-faceted partnership between Compass Minerals and Sporting KC aligns two community-driven, local companies with a national and international presence. Compass Minerals has actively supported numerous Sporting initiatives since the partnership began in 2018, including The Victory Lap, Sporting Sustainability, Sporting Club Awards and most recently, a jointly launched youth soccer scholarship program to cover costs for teams from Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City to compete in the Sporting Recreation League.
An associate partner of The Victory Project, Compass Minerals will continue to be closely connected to Sporting KC’s philanthropic efforts and the two organizations will develop a community enrichment program in addition to collaborating on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The partnership also provides Compass Minerals a wide-ranging platform for extensive employee engagement experiences.
In addition, Compass Minerals will continue as the naming rights partner for Sporting KC’s state-of-the-art training facility, Compass Minerals National Performance Center, and the nearby youth soccer complex, Compass Minerals Sporting Fields, in Wyandotte County. These world-class facilities have become premier regional destinations for the development of players, coaches and referees at amateur and professional levels since opening within the past five years.
