"We could not be happier or more proud to partner with Sporting KC,” said The Roasterie’s Bean Baron Danny O'Neill. “Not only do our cultures and values totally align, but so does our love for all things Kansas City. It was natural to kick things off with the introduction of our new Sporting Blend. Hopefully the great fans of Sporting KC will enjoy it."

"Aligning with an iconic local brand like The Roasterie is an obvious fit for us,” said Sporting Kansas City’s Chief Marketing Officer Andy Tretiak. “We are constantly exploring unique opportunities to activate with our partners. The creation of our own blend of coffee certainly reflects that approach."

Marketed as “smooth and satisfying, like the sweet taste of victory,” Sporting Blend is a premium quality French (medium) roast with origins in Brazil, Ethiopia and Sumatra. The blend’s one-of-a-kind taste is tailored for a flavor profile described as delicate and pleasing brightness with a sweet, mesquite-like aftertaste.

The new Sporting Blend is currently available in custom designed 1.75-ounce and 12-ounce bags, and will soon be available in 12-count single serve (K-Cups) cartons.

ABOUT THE ROASTERIE AIR-ROASTED COFFEE

The Roasterie Air-Roasted Coffee recently turned platinum in 2013, serving only the world’s best coffee for the past 20 years sourced from countries with the world’s richest resources for harvesting exceptional coffee. Danny O’Neill air-roasted his first batch of beans from the basement of his Kansas City, Mo. home in the Brookside neighborhood on September 26, 1993 – and The Roasterie was born. Five months later O’Neill hired The Roasterie’s first hire, “Stormin’ Norman” Killmon, as master roaster, a position that Killmon fills still today. O’Neill opened The Roasterie’s first official production facility in July 1994 at 1519 Cherry Street in Kansas City. A year and a half later, in December 1995, The Roasterie relocated to 2601 Madison Street in Kansas City to accommodate a growing demand for its coffee.

Today, The Roasterie’s production takes place at 1204 West 27th Street in Kansas City, its home since September 2007. On September 11, 2012, the production facility was crowned with a historic DC-3 aircraft, a symbol of exploration, Kansas City’s strong aviation history, the American spirit, and the adventure of The Roasterie. A month later, in October 2012, the production facility unveiled the company’s third Roasterie Café and the Bean Hangar, a 2,350-square-foot event space featuring a dramatic, industrial-chic vibe with floor-to-ceiling windows looking into The Roasterie’s production floor. In addition to its plant café at 1204 West 27th Street, The Roasterie also operates cafés at 6223 Brookside Boulevard in Kansas City, Mo. and 4511 119th Street in Leawood, Kan.
