Sporting Kansas City announced on Monday that the club has recalled midfielder Jimmy Medranda from his loan to OKC Energy FC. The 20-year-old trained with the team today and will be available for Wednesday's match at the New England Revolution.
Medranda joined OKC Energy FC on July 9 and made nine appearances during their inaugural season in the USL PRO. He has made five career MLS appearances since joining Sporting KC from Deportivo Pereira (Colombia) in August 2013.
Medranda became the youngest player to appear in a match for the club during the 2013 MLS Cup championship campaign upon his MLS debut last September and started the team’s 2014 home opener for the first of four MLS matches played this season. He most recently appeared for the club in an international friendly against English Premier League champions Manchester City on July 23.
Sporting Kansas City will be without Benny Feilhaber and Dom Dwyer due to one-game suspensions for caution accumulation on Wednesday. In addition, four Sporting KC players remain out with injuries: Eric Kronberg (fractured fourth metacarpal in left hand), Chance Myers (left Achilles), Ike Opara (right ankle) and Jacob Peterson (left knee sprain).
