President Obama will welcome Sporting Kansas City to the White House on Wednesday to honor the team and their 2013 MLS Cup Championship. The visit will include a tour, group photo with the President, remarks from the President and a youth soccer clinic on the White House lawn in support of President Obama's United We Serve campaign.
Sporting Kansas City will then take on D.C. United at 7 p.m. CT on Friday at RFK Stadium in a match-up of the first and second place teams in the Eastern Conference. NBCSN will nationally televise the game and the team will host official watch parties at the Johnny's Tavern locations at the KC Power & Light District and in Overland Park (8719 W. 95th St.). All fans are encouraged to attend for select Boulevard draft specials and the "Blue Believer" signature cocktail.
Forward C.J. Sapong will make a special appearance at the Subway (8340 W. 151st St.) in Overland Park, Kansas from 5-6:30 p.m. CT tonight. The first 100 hundred fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt and all can take advantage of photo and autograph opportunities with the former MLS Rookie of the Year.
A new edition of The Sporting KC Show will air from 7-8 p.m. CT on Wednesday on ESPN 1510 and 102.9 FM. Hosts Callum Williams and Carter Augustine will discuss all the latest news surrounding Sporting Kansas City and Major League Soccer.
Sporting KC and Frito Lay have teamed up for a month-long contest, providing fans of the team an opportunity to win an autographed soccer ball plus tickets to Pitch Black on Oct. 11 or tickets to a Sporting KC home game. Fans can enter the contest by taking a photo with their favorite bag of Frito Lay chips while wearing Sporting KC apparel and sharing the photo to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SKCFritoFan. The first winner will be selected today via a random drawing.
Two other Sporting KC fan sweepstakes come to an end this week. Tuesday is the final opportunity to enter to win a Staycation from Marriott with a prize pack that includes two free nights at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, a free dinner for two at the MetropolitanKC, a $25 voucher to CoffeeCentral, two tickets to a Sporting KC home game with a VIP parking pass and pregame tour with field access, as well as two Sporting KC jerseys and scarves.
The grand prize winner in the Ivy Funds Ultimate Goal Sweepstakes will be randomly drawn on Wednesday. One lucky fan will receive $10,000 worth of Ivy Funds shares (certain restrictions apply) and will be recognized at Sporting Kansas City's annual Pitch Black gala on Oct. 11. Consolation prizes are also available in the form of two tickets to an upcoming Sporting KC home game and a game-worn Graham Zusi jersey.
On Saturday, the Sporting Kansas City under-14, under-16 and under-18 Academy teams will host Real Colorado in U.S. Soccer Development Academy action at Swope Soccer Village. All Academy home matches are open to the public and free to attend.
