Saturday was a great day at Children's Mercy Park as Sporting Kansas City defeated Minnesota United FC 3-0 in front of the stadium's 94th consecutive MLS sellout. Ike Opara opened the scoring minutes before halftime with a laser strike from 30+ yards while Jimmy Medranda scored his first goal of the season and Saad Abdul-Salaam scored his first goal of his career in the second half. Medranda's goal was a heads up play as Soony Saad's shot attempt appeared to have crossed the line but the referee allowed play to continue.
The beautiful strikes caught the eye of national media as Opara's goal and the Saad/Medranda combo were recognized on SportsCenter's Top 10 countdown.
