Career Summary

Jimmy Medranda joined Sporting KC in August 2013 on loan from Deportivo Pereira (Colombia), making his MLS debut in a 3-0 win over Columbus Crew SC on Sept. 7. The Colombian fullback signed permanently for the club in February 2014, earning his lone MLS start on March 15 for the first of six appearances in all competitions that year. He continued to develop in 2015, starting seven matches in all competitions, and reached a new heights with 32 appearances during a breakout 2016 campaign. Medranda took another step forward in 2017 with starts in 29 of 39 appearances across all competitions, helping Sporting win their third U.S. Open Cup title in six seasons. A long-term knee injury resulted in Medranda missing 12 months between May 2018 and May 2019.

Medranda joined Deportivo Pereira’s youth system at age 12 before climbing the ladder to the senior team. He made 16 first team appearances for the club in two seasons, scoring twice.

2019: MLS regular season: Started two of 10 appearances appearances and recorded one assist (176 minutes played). Made his 2019 debut as a late substitute in a 3-2 victory over Seattle Sounders FC on May 26, playing his first game since May 20, 2018, after overcoming a long-term knee injury. Assisted Benny Feilhaber's equalizer in a 2-1 home win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Aug. 17. Concacaf Champions League: Did not feature. Open Cup: Started and played 75 minutes in the Fourth Round against Minnesota, assisting Gerso's goal in a 4-1 loss.

2018: MLS regular season: Started eight of 12 appearances, recording two goals and one assist while contributing to five shutouts (728 minutes played). Tallied a late equalizing goal as a substitute in a thrilling 4-3 victory at the Chicago Fire on March 10. Assisted Graham Zusi's late equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Seattle Sounders FC on April 15. Scored a stunning goal from long range in a historic 6-0 hammering of Vancouver Whitecaps FC on April 20, shortly before suffering a season-ending injury the following month. Open Cup: Did not feature. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature.

Assisted Dom Dwyer's game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over the Portland Timbers on April 15. Scored his first goal of the season in a 3-0 win over Minnesota United FC on June 3. Scored a spectacular long-range goal in a 2-1 loss at the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 11. Open Cup: Started and played 74 minutes in a 4-0 fourth-round win over Minnesota United FC on June 14. Started and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 win against Houston Dynamo on June 28. Started and played 120 minutes against FC Dallas on July 11, recording an assist on Latif Blessing's back-heel goal in extra time. Started and played 120 minutes in a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over the San Jose Earthquakes following a 1-1 draw through regulation and extra time on Aug. 9, assisting Diego Rubio's equalizer before converting his penalty in the shootout. Played 34 minutes as a second-half substitute in a 2-1 Open Cup Final victory over the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 20. MLS Cup Playoffs: Started and played 120 minutes in a 1-0 extra-time loss at the Houston Dynamo in the Western Conference Knockout Round on Oct. 26.

Made his first career start for the club on March 15 in a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. MLS Playoffs: Did not feature. CCL: Made one substitute appearance in the 2014-15 group stage, playing six minutes in a 3-0 win over Real Esteli on Sept. 23. Open Cup: Did not feature. Friendly: Played 45 minutes in a 4-1 Champions Shield defeat to Manchester City on July 23 at Sporting Park. USL PRO: Was loaned to USL PRO affiliate OKC Energy FC on July 9.
