Career Summary
MLS:
2013: Appeared in the last seven of Sporting Kansas City's games this season after completeing his loan agreement with Norwich City FC (English Premeir League) on May 6th. He scored his first goal since his return on May 26th against Houston Dynamo. Kamara added another tally to the goal column against Des Moines Menace on May 28th in the 12th minute on a laser of a cross from Chance Myers (Video).
<strong>2012: </strong>Kamara finished the 2012 regular season with a single-season career high in goals with 11. Kamara won the Budweiser Golden Boot as well as Sporting Kansas City Offensive Player of the Year. Kamara scored game winning goals against Dallas (<a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/03/25/goal-kamara-pokes-home-late-winner" target="_blank">Video</a>), Los Angeles (<a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/04/07/goal-kamara-heads-convey-cross" target="_blank">Video</a>), San Jose (<a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-05-27-kc-v-sj/highlights?videoID=187371" target="_blank">Video</a>), and Toronto (<a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/08/18/goal-kamara-breaks-deadlock" target="_blank">Video</a>). Kamara also earned a single-season career high in assists with eight. Two of those assists came in the season finale in Sporting KC’s 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union on October 24. With the game-winning assist against the Union, Kamara moved into a tie for sixth place on Sporting KC’s all-time chart with eight. Kamara finished the season with 134 shots, most in MLS this season and third most in MLS history. He ranks second on Sporting KC’s all-time single-season chart, behind only Preki’s 140 shots in 1996. The last time an MLS player attempted more than 134 shots in the regular season was in 2000 when Mamadou Diallo tallied 152 shots. Kamara also won the club’s Humanitarian of the Year award, with his most notable work with Schools for Salone. Kamara was named a 2012 AT&T MLS All-Star. <br>

<strong>2011: </strong>Opened season with two assists in 3-2 victory at Chivas USA on March 19. Recorded first goal of season in 3-3 draw at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on April 2nd. Scored twice in 3-2 loss at New England Revolution on April 23. Scored two goals in a 4-2 victory over Toronto on July 23rd. Scored in back-to-back matches with goals in 1-0 victory over D.C. United on August 21 and 3-2 loss to FC Dallas on August 27, Ended the season tied with Teal Bunbury and Omar Bravo as the leading goal-scorer, with nine goals. Was nominated for MLS Humanitarian of the Year for his charity work in his home nation of Sierra Leone. <br>

<strong>2010:</strong> Became a mainstay in the starting lineup in his first full season with the club. Appeared in 29 matches and made 27 starts. Scored a team-high ten goals and had the second most assists with six. Awarded team’s Golden Boot and Most Valuable Player awards. Kamara finished the year tied for fifth in MLS with four game-winning goals on the season. Also started, recorded an assist and scored the game-winning goal in 2-1 win over Manchester United during summer friendly. Appeared as a second half substitute in U.S. Open Cup play-in match against Colorado.<br>

<strong>2009: </strong>Appeared in 22 games (20 starts) for the Houston Dynamo, scoring five goals with one assist before being traded to Kansas City in exchange for Abe Thompson and allocation money in September. Kamara went on to make six appearances for KC, scoring one goal against D.C. United on the last day of the season. <br>

<strong>2008:</strong> Acquired by the San Jose Earthquakes before the season. Appeared in 12 games, scoring two goals for San Jose. Acquired by the Houston Dynamo from the Earthquakes in late July for a first-round draft pick. Notched two goals and two assists for the Dynamo in 10 MLS games (6 starts) Playoffs: Came off the bench to notch 85th-minute equalizer in first leg at NY on 11/1.<br>

<strong>2007:</strong> Played in 17 games and earned four starts with the Columbus Crew. Netted two goals in 475 minutes of action.<br>

<strong>2006:</strong> Appeared in 19 games (nine starts), scoring three goals for Columbus. Made 10 appearances with seven starts and scored two goals for the Crew's reserve team. <br>
<br>
<strong>NATIONAL TEAM: </strong>Kamara is a Sierra Leone international with eight caps, including the Leone Stars’ 2010 World Cup Qualifying campaign. Kamara played an integral role in the Leone Star’ campaign to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of nations. Recently named to the Sierra Leone Men's FIFA World Cup Qualifying team, with two second round games (Tunisia and Cape Verde Islands) taking place June 2-17th. <br>

<strong>COLLEGE:</strong> Tallied 31 goals and 16 assists over 47 games in two years at NCAA Division II Cal State-Dominguez Hills. Led the California Collegiate Athletic Association in points and game-winning goals as a sophomore. Selected as a third-team All-American. Honored as a first-team All-West Region selection for the second time.<br>
<br>
<strong>YOUTH:</strong> Played club soccer for Manhattan Beach Hurricanes and attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California. Led high school team to 2002 CIF Champions.<br>

<strong>PERSONAL:</strong> The son of Fatima Kamara. Family comes first in his life. Plays the African drums. Admires Los Angeles Lakers forward Kobe Bryant. Favorite movie is "Blood Diamond." Enjoys playing video games, basketball, and volleyball, and singing. Majored in kinesiology at Cal State-Dominguez Hills. Lists favorite author as Ishmael Beah, author of "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier," who is from Sierra Leone.<br>
