ForwardBunbury, the son of former KC forward Alex Bunbury, starred at the University of Akron and won the Hermann Trophy before being drafted as a Generation adidas signing in the first round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. After scoring five goals as a rookie, he debuted with U.S. Men’s National Team in November 2010. He led the team in scoring with nine goals in his second MLS season and scored twice in the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs. His 2012 season was cut short by an ACL tear after scoring five goals in 22 appearances. Bunbury made his return on June 12 of the following year in an Open Cup match against Orlando City SC, subbing in for Jacob Peterson in the 76th minute.
2013: MLS: Appeared in 12 games with one start after returning from a torn ACL. Contributed the game-winning assist in a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on October 26. CCL: Came off the bench in Sporting KC's 2-0 road win at Real Esteli (August 20) and started the club's 0-0 home draw vs. CD Olimpia (October 23). Open Cup: Bunbury made his return from ACL injury in the 76th minute of SKC's second game of the U.S. Open Cup on June 12 against Orlando City SC.
<p><strong>2012: </strong>Bunbury scored five goals and added one assist before suffering a season ending knee injury (torn ACL) against the New York Red Bulls on August 26. Two of Bunbury’s goals came in a 2-2 draw at Colorado on May 19 (<a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-05-19-col-v-kc/highlights" target="_blank">Video</a>). Bunbury struck again in back-to-back matches against the New England Revolution (8/4 - <a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/08/04/goal-bunbury-steals-and-scores" target="_blank">Video</a>) and D.C. United (8/11 - <a href="http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/08/11/goal-bunbury-puts-skc-front" target="_blank">Video</a>). Despite the injury, Teal Bunbury was selected as #20 on Major League Soccer’s 24 under 24. Bunbury also played in four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches and scored an insurance goal in the 87th minute of Sporting KC’s 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn-D_G1otoc" target="_blank">Video</a>).</p>
<p><strong>2011: </strong>Scored in the second game of the season scoring at Chicago after coming in as a second-half substitution and then scored twice in first start of season on April 2 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. On July 30. Bunbury also scored the equalizer in road game against San Jose in the 85th minute of regulation on October 1st. Scored the game-winner against New York on October 15 to help Sporting Kansas City clinch playoff berth. Scored both goals in the first leg of the playoffs at Colorado on Oct. 30. Ended the season tied with Omar Bravo and Kei Kamara as the leading goal-scorer with nine goals.</p>
<p><strong>2010</strong>: Drafted fourth overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City, Bunbury started 13 games and played in 26 total MLS matches in his rookie season. Scored five goals and had two assists in MLS play. Led the League in shots-on-goal percentage, putting 23 of his 41 shots on target. Bunbury scored his first professional goal on April 13 against Colorado in a US Open Cup play-in game and also recorded an assist against Manchester United in a summer friendly.</p>
<p>After the 2010 season, he was selected for a Generation adidas team that traveled to Spain and he scored three goals and added an assist in matches against the reserve sides for Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Then trained with English Premier League side Stoke City and scored in a reserve match for them against Wigan Athletic.</p>
<strong>NATIONAL TEAM: </strong>Made decision to join U.S. National Team after representing Canada at youth level. Debuted for the United States on November 11, 2010 in international friendly at South Africa. Recorded his first international goal on a penalty kick against Chile in an international friendly on January 22, 2011. Called into camp by new Manager Jurgen Klinsmann in August 2011. Bunbury was rostered to play for U.S. National Team in four international friendlies on Oct. 8, 2011 against Honduras, Oct. 11, 2011 against Ecuador, Jan. 21, 2012 against Venezuela and on Jan. 25, 2012 against Panama. Provided the assist to Graham Zusi’s goal against Panama. Member of the Under-23 Olympic qualifying team in March 2012.<br>

<strong>COLLEGE:</strong> Gathered nearly every conceivable accolade as a sophomore in 2009 including the Hermann Trophy, awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the nation's top college player. Also earned First Team All-America honors by the NSCAA. Named 2009 Player of the Year by the Missouri Athletic Club and Soccer America magazine. Played two years for the University of Akron under coach Caleb Porter, scoring 23 goals and 8 assists. Was the NCAA's top scorer as a sophomore in 2009 with 17 goals.<br>

<strong>YOUTH:</strong> Member of the Canadian U-17 and U-20 National Teams. Twice named an NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American at Shattuck-St. Mary's High School in Fairbault, Minnesota.<br>
