Three Sporting KC forwards have joined their respective nationals teams for matches abroad during September's FIFA international window. Diego Rubio and Chile will visit Japan in a friendly at 5 a.m. CT Friday at the Sapporo Dome in Sapporo. Johnny Russell and Scotland will host world No. 2-ranked Belgium in a friendly at Hampden Park in Glasgow, kicking off at 1:45 p.m. CT with a live stream on ESPN+. Daniel Salloi and Hungary will begin their 2018-19 UEFA Nations League campaign at 11 a.m. CT Saturday, visiting Finland at Tampere Stadium in Tampere with live streams on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
A new episode of The Sporting KC Show will air at 7 p.m. CT tonight on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine will look ahead to this week's international action and preview Saturday's matchup between Sporting KC and Orlando at Children's Mercy Park.
The Swope Park Rangers (12-9-7, 43 points) secured a 1-0 victory over OKC Energy FC on Sunday to vault to sixth place in the USL's Western Conference. Led by head coach Paulo Nagamura, the Rangers will put a three-game winning streak on the line Sunday at Children's Mercy Park, hosting Fresno FC (8-9-11, 35 points) at 4 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match are available via SeatGeek.com or at the stadium's east box office on gameday. The contest will also stream live on ESPN+.
Sporting KC homegrown midfielder Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal has been nominated for the USL Goal of the Week following his stunning free kick for the Swope Park Rangers in a 2-1 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC last Wednesday at Children’s Mercy Park. Voting is open at uslsoccer.com until Thursday at 11 a.m. CT.
Thursday is the final day to register for the No Other League fall season at Wyandotte Sporting Fields (1500 N 90 St, Kansas City, KS). Open to players ages 18 and up, No Other League features 8-v-8 competition in an eight-game schedule from September to November. Teams can sign up for the men's 18+ division, the co-ed 18+ division or the men's over-30 division by visiting SportingAthletics.com.
Three Sporting Kansas City Academy teams will continue their 2018-19 U.S. Soccer Development Academy seasons on Saturday in a tripleheader against FC Dallas at Swope Soccer Village. The U-15s will kick off at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the U-17s at noon and the U-19s at 2 p.m. All three matches are free and open to the public to attend.
