The Swope Park Rangers have signed midfielder Bryam Rebellon, the club announced today. Rebellon spent the 2017 campaign with the Jacksonville Armada in the North American Soccer League (NASL), and becomes the first new signing on the Rangers’ roster ahead of the 2018 season, pending league and federation approval.
The 25-year-old made 23 appearances for Jacksonville in all competitions throughout the 2017 season, recording one assist in a 3-2 victory over Indy Eleven on August 26. He also made two appearances in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, starting in the Second Round victory over Miami United and the Third Round loss to the Charleston Battery.
Rebellon has prior USL experience, having spent the 2016 season with LA Galaxy II. He made 25 appearances for Galaxy II, scoring twice against Saint Louis FC and Portland Timbers 2 – while he also appeared as a late substitute against the Swope Park Rangers at Swope Soccer Village on Aug. 27, 2016.
Prior to moving to the United States, Rebellon spent the early stages of his career in his home country of Colombia and in Argentina. The Puerto Gaitan, Colombia native spent his youth career at Atletico Juventud Girardot before moving to Girardot FC in 2010. From there Rebellon headed to Independiente Santa Fe in Colombia’s top division before signing for Argentinian side Club Atletico Sarmiento.
Rebellon next headed to fellow Primera B Nacional side Villa Dalmine on loan for the 2013-14 season before heading back to Colombia with Llaneros FC following the conclusion of his loan stint. He scored two goals in 17 games for Llaneros FC in the 2014-15 season before heading stateside and joining LA Galaxy II in 2016.
Rebellon has previously represented the Colombia Beach Soccer National Team.
