In addition to giving away Sporting KC cinch bags (photo) to the first 10,000 fans inside Sporting Park on Saturday, the Darol Rodrock Foundation will also be collecting donations for area children in foster care.
Donation bins will be set up at the Sprint Plaza and Boulevard Members Club gates for fans to drop off the following recommended items for local teenagers transitioning from foster families to independent living:
New toothbrush and toothpaste
Sporting Kansas City and Rodrock Development entered a three-year partnership earlier this year to raise awareness for the Darol Rodrock Foundation in its mission to provide support for local foster care families and children.
“We are so excited about this game and the distinctive opportunity to communicate the needs of children in the foster care system,” said Darol Rodrock, who will be on field for a special halftime presentation on Saturday. “It’s my sincere hope that the community will lend a hand to these amazing kids and make a donation. There are so many everyday items that we take for granted that can make such a huge difference in these kids’ lives.”
