Sporting Kansas City announced on Monday the club’s updated schedule and roster for the 2022 preseason, presented by Children’s Mercy.
The team kicked off preseason training on Jan. 17 in Phoenix, Ariz., for five weeks of preparation for the upcoming Major League Soccer season and already have three exhibition matches in the books: a closed-door scrimmage against the United States Men's National Team, a scoreless draw against the Colorado Rapids in the Desert Showcase and, most recently, a 2-2 draw against the Portland Timbers with goals from Johnny Russell and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin.
Sporting's preseason match-up with El Paso Locomotive FC, originally scheduled for this Wednesday, will no longer be played. The club will have two additional preseason contests before returning to Kansas City, facing USL Championship hosts Phoenix Rising FC at 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 12 before closing the preseason campaign with a trip to Austin, Texas, to take on Toronto FC at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 19.
Saturday's match against Phoenix Rising FC will be live-streamed on SportingKC.com/Live and in the Sporting KC Mobile App. Nate Bukaty and Jacob Peterson will be on the call with the stream available to Sporting fans in Kansas and Missouri (excluding the St. Louis area per MLS policy).
Fans can also follow @SKCMatchday on Twitter for live updates for all Sporting Kansas City matches, including play-by-play coverage of the team's preseason finale against Toronto FC on Feb. 19.
